SINCE 1977
With its' origin as a Conoco service station in the 50's, The IceHouse Kitchen & Tavern was born out of a necessity to quench the thirst of Taylor locals, rather than change the oil in their old Chevrolets. A young man named Randy went to his kinfolk who ran the service station and convinced them that the community might be better served if he converted gas sales into sales of the golden suds, and shortly after the little beer joint was born. It didn't stay little for long. After a handful of years of hearing the regulars beg for a bite to eat with their cold drink, the original building was added on to and a kitchen was installed. Randy had now just taken what once was a full service auto station and turned it into a full service restaurant, and people couldn't of been more excited.
Ever since that day in 1977, when the gas pumps were turned off, that little IceHouse has been offering fixes for the cravings of both locals and those just passing through. The recipes introduced into that kitchen back then, are still favorites today, alongside a variety of newer menu items that have become staples. Even the atmosphere is more welcoming. Though, some parts of the IceHouse have evolved and everyone may have their own name for the joint, one thing will always be constant... Great Food, Great Times & Wonderful Memories!
